What can art/creativity do for you?
When we create, it fills an essential missing part of who we are. All humans are creative in some way, it is in our DNA, in our souls. That is why it is so satisfying to do. It is inseparable from the essence of who we are.
On top of our normally stressful lives, surviving in the twenty first century, many of us are still dealing with mental health ramifications from the Covid days. Art is a way we can give ourselves the gift of a respite from it all.
In my classes;
# We have the camaraderie to be found in face to face classes.
# You get to put your mind and soul into a different reality for a while - very therapeutic.
# Creating art is a form of meditation - with many of the same benefits.
# Have you heard of Heart Math. This is a way of measuring the high or low resonance of your heart.
When I draw, my heart spends a lot of time in high resonance - which means less stress and lower
blood pressure.
# Painting and drawing, keep you mentally alert and enhance brain function.
# Art boosts self-esteem and gives you confidence.
# It also enhances your problem-solving skills, challenges your beliefs and encourages open-ended thinking.
# Leonardo da Vinci said, “Painting embraces all the ten functions of the eye; that is to say, darkness, light,
body and colour, shape and location, distance and closeness, motion and rest.”
You might find the idea of doing an art class a little daunting, however, it usually only takes one or two lessons at the most to get comfortable with this new experience. As one of my students said last week after her second lesson, "I don't know why it took me so long to do this, it really wasn't that hard at all!"

GROUP CLASSES:
My studio is in Springfield on the beautiful Central Coast 80 K’s North of Sydney, Australia The classes are currently quite small with no more than 6 students at a time. This means you get really individualized attention and work in a small intimate environment. I tailor each class to your own personal needs. This means you may be working on pastels doing a still life, while someone else is doing a portrait in oils. You will find the other students very supportive and friendly. We even stop for a cuppa and a chat, halfway through the lesson. This gives everyone a chance to get to know each other and we will discuss everything from how everyone’s work is going to what exhibitions we’ve seen.
INDIVIDUAL ART CLASSES: I am finding the individual art classes are becoming increasingly popular particularly with my new students. What do they offer?

They offer us a chance to get to know each other while we discuss your art and what you would like to do.

We then begin in a gentle way while you feel fully supported as you begin something new and strange.

You have my total, undivided attention for as long as you want it. Many new students are opting, to begin with, one or two individual sessions so they can find their feet and feel comfortable before they launch their fledgeling art skills into a class situation.

This allows you to gain a little confidence and get over that initial fear challenge we all have when attempting something new. We all have to start at the beginning and I do know exactly how you are feeling.
Individual tuition: By appointment
If you cannot make these times for the private art classes, please contact me as I do have some flexibility in this area and we may be able to work out something to suit.
Investment for group classes: $40 for a 2-hour lesson. You are required to sign up for a month in advance, which works out at $160 for a 4 week month. If you would have difficulty paying upfront we can come to an arrangement about that.
If you wish to book into a casual class when space is available the classes are $45 for the 2 hour group class.
Investment for private tuition: $85 for a 1-hour lesson

Private Sessions: These are one on one sessions where you have my undivided exclusive attention all to yourself. I find that sometimes people begin with a couple of these sessions if they are a bit shy and not comfortable with working in a group. This builds your confidence and gets you off to a really good start. You can choose a lesson that is for one hour or more if you choose. Your investment in these sessions is $85 an hour.

Creativity Coaching: These sessions look at a range of areas within a creative practice and work on different issues that might arise. These might include; addressing creative blocks, finding inspiration, personal creative directions, special skill development and much more.
